​Arrival & First Impressions

We were greeted by owner Neil Packer, who guided us on a tour of the museum, sharing the history and reported activity associated with key artefacts.

​

Activity began before we had even set up. As we entered the dolls room, Andrew was last through the doorway when Paul—the male doll seated in the rocking chair—launched himself from the chair and landed directly at Andrew's feet. Neil calmly retrieved him, confirming this behaviour is not unusual.

​

In the military room, Ros handled a bayonet and immediately sensed heat radiating from it, followed by an overwhelming impression of blood and a sharp pain in her abdomen—prompting her to return it swiftly to its cabinet.

​

Upon completing the tour, Neil left us to begin. Ros positioned Paul carefully on his chair and set up a night vision camera to record him. She stepped away momentarily to retrieve a tripod. Upon returning, Paul had moved—yet Mel and Andrew were two rooms away in the Demonic Room, and no one else was in the building. Photographs document the shift in position, though no movement was captured on video.

Séance Room

We placed cat balls and K2 meters on and around the central table, with the Ghost Tube app running on Andrew's phone. Initial K2 activity flickered and a cat ball flashed randomly before the room fell completely silent. When we questioned the lack of response, the app displayed "3"—the exact number of investigators present. Ros moved to sit inside the copper wigwam frame with a K2 positioned before her and began calling out, but received no responses whatsoever. The atmosphere felt unusually calm and relaxed—almost serene. During Ros's brief absence, one cat ball flashed (attributed to floor vibrations from her returning footsteps) and a K2 spiked to amber, but nothing further occurred. We moved on.

Demonic Room (Attic)

We began with calling out but received no response, so sat in silence, periodically inviting spirit to knock or tap. Movement sounds circled the room though nothing was visible. The noises gravitated toward the portal mirror, so we repositioned the REM Pod directly in front of it.

The REM Pod activated several times. When we asked if the spirit wished to join us, it triggered immediately—as though something had stepped through. Dragging sounds emanated from beyond the table, followed by distinct footsteps in the corridor outside. The room then fell abruptly calm and quiet, and we concluded the vigil.

Military Room

We sat quietly, calling out to any soldiers, sailors, or airmen present. Light taps sounded on a glass cabinet containing helmets. Ros removed one helmet and asked if it had belonged to anyone with us—no response. She placed it on her head (holding it steady for safety) but sensed nothing, so returned it carefully.

Ros then attempted trance mediumship whilst seated in the vintage military wheelchair beside the makeshift billet. She connected with a gentle elderly soldier who had occupied the chair after being wounded at sea during World War II. (See video.)

Occult Room

Cat balls were distributed around the room; K2 meters placed in the room, corridors, and stairwell. A REM Pod was stationed in the Demonic Room before the portal mirror.

Calling Out
A cat ball on the wooden cabinet beside the incense and herbal remedies began flashing immediately.

​

Mirror Scrying
Mel attempted scrying using the black mirror on the wall. Neither she nor observers noted any facial alteration, so we moved on.

​

Estes Method
We conducted Estes in the small alcove opposite the reconstructed mirror.

• Mel – Received several words, some coherent, including names. (See video.)

• Andrew – (See videos.)

• Ros – Slow to start, but the session escalated into a full, flowing exchange with a hostile, antagonistic spirit. It expressed clear hatred toward Andrew, hurled insults, swore repeatedly, and made its intention to cause harm abundantly clear. Names were given—none polite. The spirit also referenced "hell hounds." Throughout, the cat ball on the herbal-remedy cabinet flashed incessantly. The REM Pod in the Demonic Room remained silent during the session but activated the moment Ros removed her headphones—continuing for approximately five minutes as though whatever had joined her was now departing via the portal mirror. During Ros's Estes, Andrew sat in the doorway between the Occult Room and the attic. He felt a firm push to his back—like a foot shoving him forward. Afterwards, examination revealed fresh scratches curving upward across his lower back. (See photos.)

Communication Experiments

Trance Mediumship
Ros connected with a World War II soldier whilst seated in the vintage wheelchair. He conveyed that he had been wounded at sea and had spent time in the chair during his recovery. (See video.)

Estes Method
Three sessions conducted. Ros's session proved most significant—an aggressive male spirit engaged in sustained, hostile dialogue, expressing particular animosity toward Andrew and referencing "hell hounds." (Full EVP available.)

• Movement sounds circling the Demonic Room with no visible source

• Dragging sounds from beyond the table in the Demonic Room

• Paul the doll launched from his chair at Andrew's feet upon arrival

• Paul moved position whilst alone in the Dolls Room—shifting to the exact pose staff member Barry habitually places him in at closing, despite none of us knowing this routine

• Ros sensed intense heat, blood, and abdominal pain from a bayonet in the Military Room

• Cat ball persistent activation on the herbal remedy cabinet during Ros's Estes session

• K2 spike to amber in the Séance Room

• REM Pod activations in front of the portal mirror—particularly sustained activity immediately following Ros's Estes session

• Andrew physically pushed/kicked in the back whilst seated in the Occult Room doorway

• Fresh scratches discovered curving across Andrew's lower back (see photos)

 

Conclusion

The Haunted Antiques Paranormal Research Centre lived up to its reputation. Activity began the moment we crossed the threshold—Paul's dramatic leap from his rocking chair setting the tone for what proved to be a highly reactive investigation.

The Demonic Room and its portal mirror acted as a focal point for much of the evening's phenomena: REM Pod responses, circling sounds, and the apparent arrival and departure of entities during the Estes sessions. Most striking was the hostile spirit who engaged Ros—hurling abuse, targeting Andrew specifically, referencing hell hounds, and seemingly exiting via the mirror portal the instant the session ended.

​

Physical evidence presented itself in the form of scratches across Andrew's back, and Paul's mysterious repositioning into a pose known only to staff member Barry added an unsettling layer of intelligence to the doll's movements.

Staff members Amy and Barry checked in on us twice during the day. Afterwards, we sat with Barry and Ames, who shared photographs from previous investigations—including an image of a horned figure beside the portal mirror, a snarling hound's head in the Occult Room doorway, and a nurse in a group photograph displaying a completely black face with hollow eyes. These accounts aligned with our own experiences and reinforced the location's reputation for intense, intelligent, and at times hostile activity.

We departed the venue as the evening team arrived, carrying with us photographs, video footage, and—in Andrew's case—visible marks that serve as a stark reminder: some locations do not appreciate uninvited questions.
