Description of Area
On entry there are two large areas of seating with a bar to the left corner. Through to the right of the seating areas there is a restaurant area. In line with the front door, there is a step-up into a room with just a pool table. Exiting through the left doorway in the pool room there is a corridor that leads to the toilets and down into the restaurant area. Through the doorway on the right of the pool room is the outside garden, another seating room and the door to the cellar. The cellar is two separate rooms.
Reported Possible Activity
Reported activity includes music and voices when pub is closed. Tampering of electrics and lights within the building. Full body apparitions in the courtyard and the back seating area. Whistling heard when entering the cellar and the feeling of someone standing right up behind you. Doors opening on their own. Glasses moving on their own. Name spelt out in steam on mirror, 'Roy'.
Brief Summary of History or Legend
16th century public house. Formerly adjoining cottages. Not much is known of the original history of the building unfortunately but lay out and age of pub would suggest an old coaching inn with rooms for hire, yard and stables for horses and cottages attached.
In terms of legend, the most commonly reported ghost is of a man named Roy, believed to have been a local to the pub and blamed for most of the mischief that happens on the premises.
